Allianz will save more than $500,000 in middleware licensing costs as it moves from WebSphere to JBoss.

This week’s great announcement revolves around Allianz’s $1M saving going Open-Source. The theaustralian.com.au article not only mention huge cost reductions by moving to Linux, but Alllianz’s substential savings are also coming from their move from IBM’s Websphere Application Server to JBoss Enterprise Application Platform.

Encouraged by the economic conditions and the growing mindshare around middleware Opensource, we see this trend accelerating accross the world and especially in Asia/Pacific, Japan.
